Pickleball on Padre is an indoor two-day event offering fun clinics, plenty of open group play, and/or a fun tournament. Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages, abilities and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced competitive game for experienced players. Pickleball combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong. It is played both indoors and outdoors on a badminton-sized court with a net slightly lower than a tennis net. It is more commonly played as doubles, but also as singles. It is and has been the fasted growing sport for many years. Seniors represent the majority of players, but younger generations are enjoying it, and pickleball is becoming more available in schools and community activities.
More information about pickleball may be found on the website of the USA Pickleball Association: www.usapa.org. For beginners it is suggested to go to Training and Court Info – What is Pickleball and Learning to Play – to familiarize themselves with rules and scoring.
