The South Padre Island Film Commission is a division of the South Padre Island Convention and Visitors Bureau
South Padre Island Film Commission stands ready to assist you in finding the perfect location! This 34 mile barrier island, located at the southernmost tip of Texas, is half a mile wide at its widest point.
To the east is the Gulf of Mexico blue water shoreline and to the north wide, undeveloped beaches and natural dune system. To the west is the Laguna Madre Bay with expansive wetlands, offering spectacular sunsets, sea grass meadows and tidal flats. South Padre Island offers a temperate, year round climate and over 300 days of sunshine a year!
South Padre Island is serviced by two airports. Harlingen (HAR) is 45 minutes away and serviced by Southwest and Continental Airlines. Brownsville (BRN) is 30 minutes away and serviced by Continental Express Jets only.

NOTE: There are no permit fees required for most filming. The South Padre Island Film Commission aids in identifying locations, and acquiring Town of SPI, Cameron County and Coast Guard permissions. Police presence may be required for filming in the public right of ways and public beach accesses.
Production Insurance Requirements
The applicant shall procure and keep in full force and effect for the duration of filming, a minimum 2 insurance written by an insurance company approved by the State of Texas and acceptable to the city and issued in the standard form approved by the Texas Dept. of Insurance. All provisions of each policy must be acceptable to the city and name the city and its officers and employees as additionally insured.
